Group Project - Package Redesign

Mohawk College Third Year Student Project

This project started with a client (Health First) looking for a package re-design for a series of their vitamin bottles. Third-year students were put into groups to compete for a chance to be chosen to present design concepts to the client. These are the result of my team's collaboration.

Our design concept was to keep the bottle simple and clean design, with apparent colour variations to designate a product change. With a high focus on accessibility, we also wanted to include an option for sight impairment. We wanted to demonstrate how a package design could be inclusive to a section of the population that currently does not have great options when purchasing any products on the shelf. This package design included braille with a link to an accessible website for more information.

Beer Label and Package Design

Mohawk College Third Year Student Project

This project was to create a package and bottle label for a fake beer company and brand. Brand identity, logo and cohesive design were critical to this design, and all graphics were created using Corel Draw as the primary design software.

My concept for this was to create a package design for a stout beer made in Canada. I wanted to play with the idea of contrast as the product is a rich dark beer, and to achieve this, I made the mascot logo a white wolf. For me, the wolf represents a creature primarily active at night and is a powerful icon.

Magazine Redesign

Mohawk College Second Year Student Project

This project required original photography to create a magazine cover for an existing company.

For my project, I chose Nature Magazine. I had a beta fish that I wanted to photograph, and I loved the imagery on the covers of Nature magazine. So I decided to dedicate this project to my fish named Spencer. Even though the design is different from their standard layout, I feel my cover fits nicely compared to others.

Manic Molly Character Design

Mohawk College Multi-Year Student Project

In both second and third year, I had the opportunity to create designs based on my original character Manic Molly. These are two that I enjoyed creating. The first is a monster button design. The second is a gouache painting for a valentines day card.

Character Design

Mohawk College Multi-Year Student Project

Character design was also part of my learning at Mohawk College. One of the assignments in the first year was to create a custom, angry bird. For this, I chose to make a peacock bird. For the second, we needed to develop a unique monster character, and I made a purple gelatinous character named Tiny.
