Kodak Billboard Concept

Mohawk College Second Year Illustration Project

The object was to paint using gouache only, an image for a billboard that quickly captures the feeling of the phrase provided. We were given 2 options, and I chose Kodak with the words "Freeze the moment."

My inspiration came from the idea of a photographer in the wild, seeing a dangerous animal in the moments before an attack. For me, that second in time is now frozen forever and being able to capture that in all the power and beauty of that creature is something special. That is a moment I felt captured the essence of this phrase best, and I believe on a billboard with only a few seconds to view it, the viewer can quickly understand the message.

Alien Gun Illustration

Mohawk College Second Year Illustration Sketch Assessment

This assignment was to sketch an alien gun from my imagination, to test our ability to conceptualize an object in 3D and how we tackled the structural build.

My process took me to the idea of pretend play as a child and pretending the hairdryer was a gun. I thought about what I would imagine the gun looked like and how it would work. In my concept, it is a laser gun with fingerprint recognition that also powers the gun.

Avant-Garde Shoe

Mohawk College Second Year Illustration Project

The object was to create a shoe that not a shoe in a Sketch and Marker Render.

My concept came from the Brooklyn Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge. Both are supports for vehicles as feet are the vehicles of our body. I wanted the shoes to capture the hard edges of the steel frames and strong support of the guide wires.

Custom Sketchbook Cover

Mohawk College Third Year Illustration Project

This project was to create a custom sketchbook cover for an established sketchbook manufacturer. This cover was to feature an Artist Bio as well as an illustrative piece that captured 2-3 different mediums.

For this project, I chose to take my favour car (the VW Beetle) and re-imagine it in the future with the ability to hover and fly. This car would have the original beetle design feel while adding jet engines in the rear, wings on the side and 2 front hover/lift engines that would tilt to launch the car into the air. For the different mediums, I chose to have an illustration that appeared to move from pencil sketch to ink to final render.

Horticulture Online Header Assets

Mohawk College Online Course Development For Horticulture

These were developed to enhance the new online delivery for a set of courses in online Horticulture program.

I chose to do a traditional watercolour painting for each course in this program and combined them with a digital watercolour background. I wanted to create organic imagery that represented the subject matter of the course.

Header Design for Graphic Design Program - Online Course

Mohawk College Digital Illustration Asset for Online Course Content

The goal was to create a custom header for the course that we were asked to develop for online learning. Since I was a graduate of the program and took the course we were working on converting, I wanted to bring something special and unique instead of typical stock photography. As this course pertains to the print process of design, I thought creating a digital drawing of the Gutenberg Printing Press was a great balance for this image as it was digitally drawn. Bringing old and new together.

Athletics Notebook Cover

Mohawk College Student Employment Project.

I was asked to design a cover for the yearly release of the Mohawk College Athletic notebook given as part of the welcome package for the Athletics students.

My concept started with standard digital and photographic elements, as seen in previous years, and these did not quite hit the mark. I decided to take a chance and create a unique gouache painting that represented all the sports in the athletics department. The result created an illustration with a slightly vintage feel.
